EMMA NAMED AS NEW SLGA PRESIDENT


In a Press release issued today(Tuesday 22 December), Midland Vets Captain, Emma Wilson was named as the new SLGA President. She will take over from Ethel Jack, who retires in January after 3 years in the post. Our warmest congratulations to Emma - we are very proud of you.


Two other Midland Vets are proposed as members of the 2010 Board. Lorna Bennet is proposed as East Division Representative. And, following the resignation of our Midland Vet Honorary President Liz Miskimmin from the Board, Sandy Bushby is proposed as Northern Division Representative to complete Liz's term of office.

2009 AGM

The Midland Vets 2009 AGM was held on Wednesday 28 October at Balbirnie Park Golf Club. Last year's Captain, Anne Hood, handed over the Captain's Brooch to next year's Captain - Emma Wilson. The members of next year's committee are pictured below

Scotland wins Senior Home Internationals

Thursday 1 October - Scotland clinched their first Senior Home International Title by beating Wales today by 5 1/2 to 2 1/2. Midland Vet Fiona de Vries was top scorer for Scotland winning 6 out of 6 matches. For the full report, see Gillian Kirkwood's website

Senior Women's Home Internationals

Wednesday 30 September - Scotland are ahead after the second day of the Senior Home Internationals at Newport Golf Club, Wales. Top scorer is Midland Vet Fiona de Vries with 4 wins from 4. Unfortunately Lorna Bennet, who was selected for the team, had to withdraw for family reasons. The final matches are tomorrow (Thursday) when Scotland plays Wales. SVLGA Blairgowrie - Patrick Rosebowl

The only Midland Vet to feature in the prize-list of the Patrick Rosebowl, the medal round played at Blairgowrie on Monday 21 September, was Margaret Tough (Falkirk) who scored an excellent nett 72 (77-5=72) to gain second place and the Smith Medal. Our congratulations to Margaret, and commiserations on being beaten for the Rosebowl on the better inward half by Alex Glennie of West Vets. For those who played, the CSS was 75

Lorna Wins Scottish Vets Championship

Lorna Bennett is the new Scottish Vets Champion. Lorna beat Moira Thomson from East Vets at the 19th hole.

Today's results (Monday 21 September) from the Scottish Veteran Ladies championship over the Blairgowrie Lansdowne course were:

Moira Thomson (East) bt Lynne Terry (North) 5 and 4.
Lorna Bennett bt Sheila Cuthbertson(Borders) 4 and 3.
FINAL
Lorna beat Moira Thomson at the 19th
